In the mid 17th century,the Saito family moved from Osaka to Fushimi and opened a business selling kimonos to travelers under the name of "Izutsuya Ihei",but when railway service began in the late 1800s and eventually replaced ships as the primary mode of transportation, it spurred the 9th generation Sotaro Saito to go into the sake brewing business in 1895. In the early years, they sold products under the "Yanagimasamune" and "Otaka" labels, but, in 1915, the 10th generation Teiichiro Saito changed the company trademark to the current "Eikun". In 1974,the 11th generation Atsushi Saito built the office and brewery on this site. After the 12th generation Toru Saito became president in 1990, the company began brewing sake from "Iwai" rice grown in Kyoto Prefecture and sold only to breweries in Kyoto. Every since,it and other rice breands produced in Kyoto Prefecture have been the focus of product development and won numerous awards in recent years from the National Research Institute of Brewing and elseahere.

17世紀半ば、齊藤家は大阪から伏見に移り、「井筒屋伊兵衛」という名で旅行者に着物を売る商売を始めたが、1800年代後半に鉄道が開通し、最終的には船に取って代わられた、 それは9代目齊藤宗太郎が1895年に酒造業に参入するきっかけとなった。 初期には「柳政宗」や「大鷹」のラベルで商品を販売していたが、1915年に10代目齊藤貞一郎が現在の「英勲」に社名を変更した。 1974年、11代目齊藤篤がこの地に事務所と醸造所を建設した。 1990年に12代目の齊藤透が社長に就任した後、同社は京都府で栽培された「祝」米から酒を醸造し始めた。 それ以来、京都府産米を中心とした製造をし、近年、国内外から数々の賞を受賞している。
