The muzinamo is a very precious insectivorous plant that used to grow wild all over Japan, but environmental degradation has reduced its numbers, and the “Hozoji-numa muzinamo native habitat” in Hanyu City is now the only place in Japan where it grows naturally. It is carefully protected as a national natural treasure. Badgerweed” was created to let many people know about such a treasure of Hanyu City, rich in nature.

This sake is brewed from carefully polished “Sai-no-Kagayaki” harvested in Hanyu City, Saitama Prefecture.

Toa Shuzo was founded in Chichibu in 1625, moved its headquarters to Hanyu in 1941, and has been in business for 400 years. The company produces sake, whiskey, shochu, liqueur, mirin, etc. Since 2020, we have been producing a new brand of sake called “Badger Momo,” which is made from local rice in Hanyu City. We have acquired the food safety “FSSC22000” certification and strive to deliver safe alcoholic beverages. In 2021, we started distilling our own whiskey.
